Juventus push for Guglielmo Vicario as Tottenham loan proposal takes shape

The Italian goalkeeper has agreed personal terms with Juventus, with negotiations over a loan with a non-mandatory purchase option set to advance

Juventus are preparing an offer to sign Guglielmo Vicario from Tottenham Hotspur on loan with an option to buy, according to the latest reports. Personal terms have already been agreed, while discussions between the two clubs are expected to advance as Juventus look to resolve their goalkeeping situation. The proposed structure would allow the Serie A side to postpone a permanent commitment.

Juventus turn to Vicario after goalkeeper search changes

Vicario has emerged as a Juventus target after the club's pursuit of Emiliano Martínez broke down. The 29-year-old Italy international joined Tottenham from Empoli in 2023 and has made 117 appearances for Spurs in all competitions. Tottenham's official profile confirms he featured 43 times during the 2025/26 campaign.

The goalkeeper's situation at Spurs has also changed following Roberto De Zerbi's arrival. Recent reports indicate that Tottenham are open to Vicario leaving, while Antonín Kinský has emerged as another option in goal. Vicario has reportedly been receptive to a return to Italy, making personal terms less of an obstacle in the negotiations.

Vicario's numbers underline Juventus' interest

Vicario started 31 Premier League matches in 2025/26 and made 10 Champions League appearances. Across all competitions, he recorded 14 clean sheets and 113 saves, according to Goal's season data. He also helped Tottenham retain their place in European competition after a campaign in which he missed time because of a hernia problem.

Juventus' proposed loan with a non-mandatory buy option would give the club flexibility while allowing them to assess Vicario before committing to a permanent transfer. Tottenham and Juventus are now expected to continue negotiations, with the final structure of the purchase clause among the key points still to be settled.
