Enes Ünal is set to return to Getafe after Bournemouth sanctioned a free transfer for the Turkey international. The deal is structured to allow Bournemouth to earn up to €1.5 million in bonuses, while the English club will also retain a 20% sell-on clause. The agreement brings an end to Ünal's spell in the Premier League after two seasons with the Cherries.
Ünal closes the door on Bournemouth spell
The 29-year-old centre-forward joined Bournemouth permanently from Getafe in May 2024 after initially arriving on loan. The Premier League confirmed at the time that he signed a four-year contract following a spell in which he made 16 league appearances, scoring twice and providing two assists.
Ünal struggled to establish himself consistently in England, with injuries limiting his involvement. In the 2025/26 season, he made 27 Premier League appearances according to Squawka, scoring once and registering no assists.

A return to the club where Ünal made his name
The move takes Ünal back to Getafe, where he enjoyed the most productive period of his career. He scored 34 goals in 104 appearances for the Spanish club before leaving for Bournemouth, including 16 goals in the 2021/22 season and 15 in 2022/23.
Recent Spanish reporting says Getafe have reached an agreement for the striker's permanent return, with Ünal's desire to go back to Madrid playing an important role in the deal. He is expected to undergo his medical before completing the move.
