Timber has quickly become a target
Timber, 25, is a Netherlands international who joined Marseille from Feyenoord in January 2026 for an initial €4.5 million. He signed a contract running until June 2030, giving Marseille a strong contractual position if interest from Porto develops further.
The midfielder made 15 Ligue 1 appearances for Marseille during the 2025/26 season, starting 14 matches and recording no goals or assists, according to StatMuse. His wider season included 36 appearances for Feyenoord, Marseille and the Netherlands, with four goals and five assists across those competitions, according to oGol.
Porto face a difficult battle for Timber
Timber's preference could prove decisive. When asked about his future in April, he said he was focused on Marseille and would only discuss his plans again in July. That came after a promising start to life at the club, although reports later suggested Marseille could consider offers following the club's financial situation and failure to secure Champions League football.
For now, Porto's €15m-€18m proposal remains only a potential move rather than an advanced agreement. Timber's current desire to stay at Marseille means the Portuguese club must first convince the player before any negotiations can move to a more decisive stage.
