Atletico Madrid are closing in on the signing of RSC Anderlecht left-back Mohamed Habib Zinbi, with the 16-year-old Moroccan talent choosing the Spanish club’s project.
Zinbi has decided to leave Anderlecht and join Atletico Madrid, where he is expected to begin his development with Atlético Madrileño, the club’s reserve side competing in Spain’s Primera Federación. The young defender is considered one of Morocco’s promising youth prospects and has represented the country at U17 level.
Moroccan full-back chooses Atletico project
The left-back joined Anderlecht’s academy setup and quickly attracted attention with his performances in Belgian youth football. Zinbi, born in November 2009, plays primarily as a left-back and has been part of the club’s U18 squad.
Atletico Madrid have moved to secure the teenager as part of their long-term recruitment strategy, focusing on developing young players with high potential. Zinbi is expected to continue his progression in Spain before eventually fighting for a place in the first-team structure.
Anderlecht will receive only training compensation
The transfer will not generate a significant fee for Anderlecht, as the Belgian club did not offer Zinbi a professional contract before his departure. As a result, the RSCA are only entitled to receive training compensation under FIFA regulations.
The move highlights Atletico’s continued investment in emerging talents from across Europe and North Africa, while Zinbi will now look to take the next step in his career at one of Spain’s biggest clubs.
