Benfica have completed the signing of Colombian striker Jhon Durán from Al-Nassr, with the 22-year-old joining the Portuguese club on loan until the end of the 2026/27 season.
The forward has arrived at Estádio da Luz on a temporary deal, with Benfica covering a total cost of €6.1 million for the operation. The agreement also includes an option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the season for €30 million.
Jhon Durán returns to Europe after Al-Nassr spell
Durán joins Benfica after a short period with Al-Nassr, who signed him from Aston Villa in January 2025 in a deal reported to be around £64 million. The Colombian striker impressed early in Saudi Arabia but later struggled for consistency, leading to loan moves in search of regular playing time.
The striker previously played in the Premier League with Aston Villa, where he scored 20 goals in 78 appearances before moving to the Saudi Pro League. Known for his power, pace and finishing ability, Durán is expected to compete for a starting role in Benfica’s attack.
Benfica add attacking firepower under new project
The Eagles view Durán as a key reinforcement for their frontline ahead of the new season. The Colombian international arrives with experience from England, Saudi Arabia and international football, giving Benfica another option in the centre-forward position.
If Durán adapts well in Portugal, Benfica will have the chance to activate the €30m purchase option and secure the striker on a permanent basis. The move represents another opportunity for the 22-year-old to restart his European career and rediscover the form that made him one of South America’s most highly rated young forwards.
