Manchester City want more for Rodri
City's position has been clear throughout the negotiations. The club rejected Barcelona's initial €45m offer and are looking for a significantly higher figure before considering Rodri's departure. The Spain international still has a contract with City until 2027, leaving the English club in a strong position during the talks.
Rodri's 2025/26 campaign was affected by his return from a serious injury, but he still made 33 appearances for Manchester City across all competitions, scoring twice. The club's official season review credits him with 2,184 minutes, while Opta's data records 21 Premier League appearances, one goal and no assists.
Barcelona push for a deal
The midfielder remains an important target for Barcelona as they look to strengthen the centre of their midfield with an elite defensive presence. Rodri, who won the 2024 Ballon d'Or and was part of Spain's 2026 World Cup-winning side, would bring considerable experience to Hansi Flick's squad if the transfer is completed.
