The defender has passed his medical and joins Sporting from Famalicão as Ousmane Diomandé's replacement
Ba completes move after failed Strasbourg transfer
Ba was initially set to join Strasbourg earlier in the transfer window, but the move collapsed after he failed his medical examination. Sporting quickly moved to secure the defender, reaching a full agreement with Famalicão to bring him to Lisbon.
The transfer includes a fixed fee of €20m, while Famalicão will retain a 20% sell-on clause, allowing the Portuguese club to benefit from any future sale of the defender.
Sporting secure Diomandé replacement
Sporting identified Ba as their priority target after preparing for the expected departure of Ousmane Diomandé. The club believe the young centre-back has the physical attributes and potential to become a key figure in their defence.
With the medical already completed and all paperwork finalized, Ba is set to be officially unveiled by Sporting in the coming days as one of the club's marquee signings of the summer transfer window.
