Chelsea Complete £117m Morgan Rogers Transfer as Aston Villa Star Signs Six-Year Contract

Chelsea have completed the signing of Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa in a record-breaking £117 million transfer, with the England international putting pen to paper on a six-year deal at Stamford Bridge.

Morgan Rogers has officially become a Chelsea player after signing his contract following the completion of his medical. The Blues will pay Aston Villa a fixed fee of £117m with no additional add-ons included, making the 23-year-old one of the most expensive English players in football history.

Rogers joins Chelsea after breakthrough Aston Villa spell

The attacking midfielder arrives at Chelsea after an impressive spell at Villa Park, where he developed into one of the Premier League’s most influential young players. Rogers joined Aston Villa from Middlesbrough in February 2024 for an initial fee around £15m and quickly became a key figure under Unai Emery.

Rogers, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or on the wing, recorded 14 goals and 12 assists during his standout season with Villa, attracting interest from several top clubs, including Arsenal. However, Chelsea moved quickly to secure the deal and convinced the player to join Xabi Alonso’s project.

Chelsea secure major signing under Xabi Alonso

The agreement includes a six-year contract running until June 2032, with an option to extend the deal until June 2033. The transfer surpasses Chelsea’s previous club record fee of £115m paid for Moisés Caicedo and represents a major statement from the Blues under new manager Xabi Alonso.

Rogers’ arrival strengthens Chelsea’s attacking options ahead of the new season, with the club hoping his versatility, physical ability and creativity can add another dimension alongside players such as Cole Palmer.
