Bologna have reached an agreement with AS Roma to sign Artem Dovbyk on loan until June 2027, with the Ukrainian striker accepting the move and scheduled to undergo his medical on Tuesday. The transfer is part of a wider agreement between the two Serie A clubs that will also see Santiago Castro join Roma in a permanent deal.

Dovbyk gets fresh start at Bologna
After just one season in the Italian capital, Dovbyk is set for a new challenge under Bologna, who were looking for an experienced striker to strengthen their attacking options. The 29-year-old has already approved the transfer, with only the final formalities remaining before the move is officially announced. According to reports, the loan agreement will keep him at Bologna until the end of the 2026/27 season.
Dovbyk made 41 appearances for Roma during the 2025/26 season, scoring 17 goals and providing five assists across all competitions. Despite a respectable return, the arrival of Gian Piero Gasperini and Roma's pursuit of a new striker opened the door for his departure this summer.
Santiago Castro heads to Roma
The deal also paves the way for one of Serie A's most exciting young forwards to switch clubs. Santiago Castro is set to become Roma's first major signing of the summer after the Giallorossi agreed a package worth around €35 million plus bonuses, with Bologna also securing a future sell-on percentage.
With Dovbyk ready for his medical and Castro's move also nearing completion, Roma and Bologna are finalising one of the biggest transfer operations of the Italian summer window.
