Personal terms close as Madrid stance changes
According to reports, Rodri is keen on joining Real Madrid and discussions over contractual terms have progressed positively. The Ballon d'Or-winning midfielder and the Spanish giants are said to be close to aligning on the key aspects of a potential deal.
The biggest development is Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez's changing position. After previously ruling out a move for the 29-year-old, Pérez is now reportedly much more open to pursuing the Manchester City star.
Manchester City yet to receive approach
Despite the progress on the player's side, Real Madrid have not opened formal negotiations with Manchester City. The Premier League champions remain in a strong position, with Rodri under contract until June 2027 and City continuing to value him as one of the world's best defensive midfielders.
Any transfer will depend on Real Madrid deciding to make an official approach and reaching an agreement with City. For now, the player's approval is in place, but club-to-club talks have yet to begin.
