Newcastle United have reached a full agreement with AS Monaco for the signing of midfielder Aladji Bamba in a deal worth just over €40 million, including bonuses. The highly rated youngster has already been granted permission to travel to England, where he will undergo a medical before signing a long-term contract with the Premier League club. According to multiple reports, the transfer is now entering its final stages.
Medical scheduled after club-to-club agreement
Newcastle moved quickly to secure Bamba after identifying the 20-year-old as one of their priority midfield targets. With negotiations between the two clubs now complete, only the medical examination and the signing of the player's contract remain before the move becomes official.
Bamba is regarded as one of Monaco's brightest emerging talents. The central midfielder impressed with his composure in possession, athleticism and defensive work rate, earning attention from several European clubs before Newcastle won the race for his signature.
Newcastle strengthen midfield for the future
During the 2025/26 season, Bamba made 34 appearances in all competitions for Monaco, contributing three goals and five assists while establishing himself as a regular first-team player. His performances in Ligue 1 highlighted his ability to operate both as a holding midfielder and in a more advanced role.
Newcastle believe Bamba has the profile to become a key part of the club's long-term project. Once his medical is completed, the Senegal-born midfielder is expected to be officially unveiled as one of the Magpies' marquee signings of the summer transfer window.
