Former Chelsea centre-back is set to join NEOM SC.
French defender Malang Sarr has agreed to join Saudi Pro League side NEOM SC on a free transfer after choosing the ambitious Saudi project over several offers from Europe.
The 27-year-old centre-back has reached a full agreement with NEOM SC and is set to become the club’s latest defensive signing. According to reports, Sarr opted for the Saudi side despite receiving five separate proposals from clubs across Europe, underlining his confidence in NEOM’s long-term vision.
Sarr chooses Saudi project over European interest
After becoming available as a free agent, Sarr attracted significant interest from clubs looking to strengthen their defensive options. However, the former Chelsea, Monaco and Nice defender decided that NEOM offered the most attractive sporting project.
Capable of playing both as a centre-back and left-back, Sarr brings experience from the Premier League, Ligue 1 and the UEFA Champions League. His arrival is expected to add leadership and quality to NEOM's back line as the club prepares for its first Saudi Pro League campaign.
NEOM continue ambitious recruitment drive
Sarr is the latest high-profile addition in NEOM SC's summer rebuild as the club looks to establish itself in the Saudi top flight. The newly promoted side have been active in the transfer market, targeting experienced players with European pedigree.
With the agreement now in place, Sarr is expected to complete the remaining formalities before being officially unveiled as a NEOM player, becoming another statement signing in the club’s ambitious project.
