Aston Villa stand firm over Martínez
Despite Juventus' strong interest, Aston Villa are playing hardball in negotiations. The Premier League side are under no financial pressure to cash in following recent transfer income, and club officials believe Martínez remains one of the team's key leaders. Reports suggest Juventus have already agreed personal terms with the World Cup winner, but a club-to-club agreement remains a long way off.
Martínez enjoyed another impressive 2025/26 season, making 48 appearances in all competitions for Aston Villa. The Argentine recorded 16 clean sheets and continued to establish himself as one of the Premier League's most reliable goalkeepers, helping Villa qualify for European competition once again.
Juventus weighing up alternative goalkeepers
With Aston Villa refusing to lower their demands, Juventus are already assessing alternative options in case negotiations collapse. Tottenham's Guglielmo Vicario and Parma's Zion Suzuki remain on the Bianconeri's shortlist, although Martínez is still considered the club's preferred target.
For now, Juventus have not abandoned their pursuit, but they are expected to return with an improved proposal if they want to convince Aston Villa to part ways with one of the world's top goalkeepers before the transfer window closes.
